The Municipality of Assisi has organized an extraordinary transport plan for pilgrims arriving in Assisi for the exposition of the body of Saint Francis, providing specific instructions for those traveling by coach, private car, or train, as well as for people with disabilities
COACH/BUS
SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS (FEBRUARY 22 – MARCH 22, 2026)
A. Passenger Loading and Unloading Zone:
- Porta Nuova Parking: For coaches arriving from Southern Italy (SS 75 Exit: Viole).
- Giovanni Paolo II Parking: For coaches arriving from Central/Northern Italy (including Lazio and Abruzzo) – SS 75 Exit: S. Maria degli Angeli (SMA).
B. Parking:
- Coaches must park at San Vetturino Parking or Stazione Parking (the parking fee is included in the checkpoint payment).
- Should these areas reach full capacity, additional parking will be available in the Santa Maria degli Angeli Industrial Zone.
During this period (Feb 22 – March 22), the coach checkpoint can also be processed at the Stazione Parking.
WEEKDAYS (FEBRUARY 22 – MARCH 22, 2026)

CAR
SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS (FEBRUARY 22 – MARCH 22, 2026)
- Parking Availability: Once all parking spaces surrounding the city walls of Assisi are full, vehicle traffic will be diverted toward Santa Maria degli Angeli. Cars may be parked in the designated areas near the Teatro Lyrick.
- Overflow Parking: Should these areas reach full capacity, the parking lots on Via Padre Ulisse Cascianelli (located at the “S.M. Angeli SUD” exit of the SS 75) will be utilized.
- Shuttle Service: A round-trip shuttle service to Assisi will operate from the Stazione Parking.
WEEKDAYS (FEBRUARY 22 – MARCH 22, 2026)
Parking Diversions: When the standard parking lots around the Assisi city walls reach capacity, vehicle traffic will be diverted toward Santa Maria degli Angeli to the “Stazione Parking.” Once that is full, traffic will be directed to the designated areas near the Teatro Lyrick.
- Overflow Parking: Should these areas reach full capacity, the parking lots on Via Padre Ulisse Cascianelli (located at the “S.M. Angeli SUD” exit of the SS 75) will be used.
Shuttle Service: A round-trip shuttle service to Assisi will operate from the Stazione Parking.

TRAIN CONNECTIONS (FF.SS. Station)
- Direct Access: From the Assisi Railway Station (FF.SS.), visitors can reach ASSISI using Bus Line C.
- Increased Service: The frequency of Bus Line C trips to and from the Basilica of Saint Francis will be increased for the duration of the event.
PEOPLE WITH REDUCED MOBILITY
ARRIVING BY PRIVATE CAR: Accessibility and Reduced Mobility
- To facilitate access for persons with reduced mobility arriving by private car for the exposition of the body of Saint Francis, the Municipality of Assisi has organized a free shuttle service with specialized vehicles and qualified personnel.
- Route: From Porta San Giacomo Parking (Via Frà Francisco Remon Jativa, Assisi) to the Basilica entrance and back.
- How to access: To use this service, please proceed directly to the Porta San Giacomo Parking lot, where a dedicated shuttle will be waiting.
- Timeliness: Visitors are kindly requested to arrive in advance to ensure scheduled booking times are met.

- To facilitate access for persons with reduced mobility traveling by coach for the exposition of the body of Saint Francis, the Municipality of Assisi has organized a free transport service with specialized vehicles and qualified personnel.
- Service Details: A dedicated vehicle and staff will meet you upon arrival to transport you to the Basilica entrance and back.
